Wolf Blass Grey Label McLaren Vale Shiraz Australian Red Wine (禾富巴斯 灰牌 麥克拉倫谷 設拉子 澳洲紅酒) is sourced from the best Shiraz vineyards in McLaren Vale where merges with the Adelaide Hills - South Australia, ranging in altitudes from about 50m near the coast to 200m, bringing complexity and layers of interest to Grey Label. McLaren Vale mostly spans two basins of ancient bedrock layered with sediments laid down by advances and retreats of the sea over the past 45 million years. Soil types is different from sands, yellow clays, and red and black loams through to ironstone. It's rich, plush and powerful with aromatic blue fruits, notes of dark chocolate, warm spice and subtle nougat oak. Grey Label McLaren Vale Shiraz has undergone the maturation as individual vineyard batches in a combination of 43% seasoned and 26% new French oak, and 16% seasoned and 15% new American oak for 18 months, creating complex and elegant red wine. To produce the Wolf Blass Grey Label range, Wolf Blass winemakers select fruits of exceptional vineyards of South Australia to create a collection of iconic red wines that showcase both regional and varietal excellence, "Terrior", for every moment. It is a good quality South Australian red wine, never over powering, enjoyable on release and will develop with a decade careful cellaring, with slow-roasted lamb. As a daily wine, wedding wine or other occasions, it offers value for money, one of the famous Hong Kong supermarkets red wines.

In contrast to the 'old' Grey Label style - sweet-fruited, sweet-oaked and accessible - this wine feels like it needs time to unwind. All the elements are there; depth in the bouquet with blackberry, liquorice, and quality oak, and ample black-fruited flavour with warm-earth regionality. At present it's a little disjointed and awkward. Bottle age will undoubtedly sort it out.
