Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon|Australian Red Wine
Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon Australian Red Wine (禾富巴斯 金牌 庫納瓦拉 赤霞珠 澳洲紅酒) is sourced from the best Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards, over well-drained Terra Rossa soils, a type of red clay soil produced by the weathering of limestone, across Coonawarra (Limestone Coast zone of South Australia). It's a generous, smoothly textured palate with an aromatic nose of fresh red fruit & ripe dark fruits, with subtle notes of oak and tobacco. Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon has undergone the maturation 81% seasoned and 19% new French oak for 12 months, creating complex and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon red wine. To produce the Wolf Blass Gold Label range, Wolf Blass winemakers select fruits of distinctive vineyards of South Australia to create a collection of fine & elegant wines that showcase both regional and varietal excellence, "Terrior". It is a good quality red wine, never over powering, enjoyable on release and will develop with a decade careful cellaring, with roast red meats. As a daily wine, wedding wine or other occasions, it offers value for money, one of the famous Hong Kong supermarkets red wines.
Normally, Hong Kong Supermarkets (ParknShop/Wellcome) sell Wolf Blass Gold Label President’s Selection, which is different from Wolf Blass Gold Label Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon (Hong Kong Duty Free Shop Only). The quality and price of the President’s Selection Gold Label range is between Wolf Blass Yellow Label and Wolf Blass Gold Label Barossa Shiraz & Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Under Australian wine laws, all wine labels carrying a GI (Geographical Indications) name must comply with at least 85% of single vintage, grape variety and region, to showcase regional and varietal excellence, also for the indication of wine's origin and protection of region name.
Cabernet Sauvignon is a star grape variety of Coonawarra, producing some of Australia's excellent 100% varietal red wines, different from Margaret River Cabernets of Western Australia due to the unique "Eucalyptus" notes and concentrated fruit flavours in medium-bodied with a supple palate and well-balanced tannins. It offers blackcurrant, cassis, redcurrant, blackberry and mulberry in young wines, which develop earthy, savoury, spicy and black olive characters with age. Cabernet Sauvignon has two major blend-mates in Australia: the Bordeaux group of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petiti Verdot, Malbec and Shiraz. Merlot, Shiraz, Malbec, Chardonnay and Riesling are the main varietals in the Limestone Coast. John Riddoch had done a huge contribution on Coonawarra's wine industry in 19th century and set up Wynns Coonawarra Estate. Balnaves, Katnook Estate, Lindemans, Majella, Parker Coonawarra Estate, Penfolds, Penley Estate, Petaluma, Yalumba and Zema Estate are the best producers in Coonawarra.
